Cardio Telemedicine

Cardio-telemedicine - the new quicker, more cost effective cardiology care pathway

GPs do not always have the opportunity to review sufficient numbers of ECG traces in their own practices to be able to confidently interpret the hundreds of possible variations. As a result, many refer their patients to secondary care for outpatient appointments.

Our cardio-telemedicine (CTM) service brings together the best of general practice, cardiology consultants and new technologies to bring better care closer to home.

By placing ECG machines direct into doctors' surgeries, and training practice staff to use them, we can carry out diagnostic testing without the need to send patients to hospital. The patient's diagnostic result is captured on our information system before being downloaded by our cardiologist consultants, who review and interpret the test.

The cardiologist's report is uploaded to our information system, and sent back to the referring GP practice within 48 hours. Patients whose care needs are urgent are expedited by direct referral to secondary care, or by liaison with the referring GP.

Your patients get a quick, convenient service. You get peace of mind. And the NHS saves resources on unnecessary referrals to secondary care. To find our more view our CTM service page.
